I've always wondered what a stranger would perceive me as if they had a peek inside my house or my room. If someone can learn a lot about you just from your trash, what about your room? I believe that one's room (if properly organized and filled) is a semblance for your soul. So what's in my room if you look through the window? The first thing you will probably see is actually a wooden artist's easel. You see, I am definitely a fan of the arts...but I guess I don't have much time to actually do it. Looking past that is a music stand (I play the violin). If you look even past that, one of my bookshelves can be seen. It's the more organized one for sure. (I ran out of room in my first bookshelf.) Saying that I read a lot is an understatement...and now I've just realized that I haven't written about a book in a while. I'll get to that later. If you look very closely through my window, you will see an epee and foil from my fencing days (which lasted about 1 year). I get shivers whenever I hold those blades. A passion surges through my body that makes me want to sing. Fencing is really a chess-like dance. But those are just memories now.
The book that I just finished reading is called The Diviners by Libba Bray. When my friend first lent it to me, I though it would just be another romance/magic story, but I was grossly misguided. That's what happens when briefly glance at covers and judge them. I would probably place this book in the fantasy/mystery/horror section. There are definitely some very graphic descriptions of murders in the story, but in my opinion, that just adds to the flair. The book is about a girl, Evie O'Neill and some of the people she meets along the way when she is shipped off to New York by her parents to live with her uncle. Her uncle is a curator at a museum of the supernatural. During Evie's stay in New York, a string of killings pique her interest, as her uncle is called upon to assist in the investigation. Unknown to some Evie has a a special gift that can help them solve the murder case...but it might be to late, as this isn't some ordinary murder. Unbeknownst to many, the world is to enter a dark period of time and "it is coming."
If you have any time soon, and like this genre of books, I would definitely suggest this book. :)
Have fun!
Love, Jen.
