Dead. Fridays.

I feel so dead. So drained. So how am I supposed to recuperate? I don't really know. I know I should look to God. To ask him to fulfill me. But sometimes, I feel doubts. Yet, I am wrong. Is it possible? To live so happily in one part of your life, yet stand in the back like a shadow...watching...in another? I wonder these things. Oh, but my own life, it's not really anything big. No big adventures really. Just the dreams of a regular teenage girl, complete with all the crushes and things. Haha. But while I may seem like the cliche, lost girl, I do have some...quirks. One of them being that I actually like English class and the books we read, whether they be plays by Shakespeare, or a narrative about someone's life or journey. The last book I read for school was The Color of Water by James McBride. In the unit we had just completed, we had to look for a journey the main character was going through. To me, the main interest, besides the actual story of course, was the structure in which it was put. It was basically a parallel narrative between a white mother and her black son, in which the reader can see the way one's upbringing is effected by his or her guardian's experiences. It was a truly touching book. I do recommend it, especially if you are interested in America's history of biracial marriages or African American history in general. Here is a cover of the book and the author.

Another book that I would like to talk about is In the Lake of the Woods by Tim O'Brien. I am actually only on the 7th chapter. But our class is currently exploring the Vietnam wars and the social/political consequence of America's actions in it. So, while I'm not even close to finishing it, if you are interested in history/realistic fiction, I would recommend this book. But I don't know much about it yet. So...yeah! :)

And while I do like to read these in class books (as there is a reason each book is chosen to be part of a course), my free read books are definitely of a different genre: fantasy! Yeah. Not gonna lie, but I am addicted to these. The last few books I have read are The Mark of Athena and Eona. I know, something as simple as the Percy Jackson series seems too juvenile for a 15-year old, but trust me, it's a fun read. I really do enjoy reading some of these. They spur one's imagination. SO READ ON.

Also, another one of my favorite things in the world is classical music. And I will share two of which I am working on...neither of them my solo piece. That will come later. ;) Plus these are just REALLY REALLY BEAUTIFUL. Nothing can ever compare to the complexities of classical music.
1. Moldau by Smetana http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgWOjyQLB10 and don't just listen to it, but look it up on Wikipedia. It's awesome.
2. Quartet in E flat major Op. 12 no. 1 by Mendelssohn: The most awesome quartet music EVER. :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1si8LCP0M0I
ENJOY!
